Campaign helps kids make ‘dosts’

GURGAON: On the eve of Children’s Day, the NGO Shakti Vahini which runs Childline (1098) , said that their week-long initiative to raise awareness about rights of children has evoked positive response. Since November 8, under the awareness campaign ‘Childline Se Dosti’, girl children from Arushi home (shelter home) have been visiting police stations and tying friendship bands on cops. It also included programmes like talk shows on child abuse and it will also organize a painting competition. The aim of the campaign is to ensure that children get to interact and make friends with people from different walks of life. Rishi Kant, spokesperson of NGO Shakti Vahini which runs Childline, said, “We have meetings with the labour department, ministry of women and child development, police department and members of the Child Welfare Committee .”
