GURGAON: City police have registered case against a minor boy alleged for sodomizing an eight-year-old child. Surprisingly, in this case police identified the accused as one who was earlier caught in a vehicle theft case. After investigating allegations that police had physically abused the boy, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had ordered Gurgaon police to pay Rs 25,000 as compensation.
According to the police, a resident of Krishna colony lodged a complaint with city police that the accused Ravi (name changed) had taken his eight-year-old son with him. The accused allegedly took the young boy to a secluded place and allegedly sodomized him. The accused has now fled from his house and police are searching for him. “We have lodged an FIR and are likely to arrest him soon,” said Dr Abhay Singh Rao, DCP of west district. The accused boy was earlier arrested in March 2011 by policemen of Sector 4 police post on charges of stealing a Kinetic Scooty.
After receiving a complaint of illegal detention and physical abuse in this case, the NCPCR had noted in its investigation that the arrest was shown by the police in its record as on March 29 and the child was found to have been illegally detained and tortured in the police post. The commission noted that the child was implicated in a false case of theft and thereafter illegally detained and tortured in a cruel and inhuman manner (which had been established by MLC) in absolute contravention of the law and to extort money from his family. The superior police officers seemed to be reluctant in registering FIR and taking required action against the accused policemen. A few months ago, police had registered case against the accused cops and now the boy is facing a serious charge.
